I write clean romance, and Promising Love has a Christian tone to the story. I chose to write a Christian romance because I felt other people wanted hot, steamy stories full of nudity and passion. Christians would be more accepting of the idea that there wasn't going to be any hanky-panky going on between the pages. Although I have read and enjoyed steamy books, I don't particularly like to write that way. It doesn't have anything to do with religion, though, it's just the way I feel. It's not an interesting subject to me.
In the last few months, I've come to realize maybe other people, regardless of their religious affiliation, won't mind if my books are not steamy. Therefore, going forward I'll be writing my clean romances and not focusing on a primarily Christian audience.
I'm looking into writing contemporary romance but also fantasy romance. Right now I'm working on two projects, both of which are contemporary.
Also in my romances, I want to focus on giving my female characters positive female support from their friends and family. Too often women are pitted against each other as the "enemy" or "competition." I want to show that female friendships are important in the lives of women and girls.
Promising Love was meant to be the first in a series, although it ends well enough to stand alone. I may or may not continue the series. If people would like to see more of Virginia and Grace's story, then I will write more because the characters are dear to my heart.
